How do I participate?

It’s easy! In just 3 simple steps you can renew your commitment to the Constitution & #UpholdTheOath. Videos will not be posted to the website or shared publicly until organizers have hundreds of submissions.

Step 1

Grab your phone or webcam + hit record

Say your first name and number of years as a public servant. Example: “My name is Jessica and I’ve proudly served my country as a federal civil servant for six years.”

Step 2

Recite Oath of Office of Civil Service Employees

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. [So help me God.]”

Step 3

Stop recording + upload your video

Use your personal cell phone or computer to upload your video on the adjacent section. That’s it!

As a civil servant, there is no restriction on proclaiming your oath publicly, or on video, or participating in #UpholdTheOath, but as always, be smart.

  1. Use your personal cell phone or computer (not one issued by the U.S. government).
  2. Make sure to do this on your own time, outside of a Federal building, vehicle or lands.
  3. Do not wear clothing identifying your agency or employer, or anything promoting a campaign or political party.
